You Can Change Your Life in Less than a Year
I made this video almost a year ago (last November). I was feeling undervalued, overworked, and ultimately very unhappy. I decided it was time for a change, so I quit my agency role, moved to Dallas, and started a new life.
It wasn’t an easy start by any means. I was assaulted that December and in a near-death car accident shortly afterward, but I kept fighting.
I started Come Alive Communications LLC in February of 2023 and embarked on a completely new journey. One that would foster belonging and achieve my wildest dreams.
I noticed industry trends and gaps and knew I could overcome them, create powerful connections, and do impactful work. I realized I could leverage the knowledge I had built for over 12 years to provide services at a lower price point without compromising the value added. My friend Chris Gee calls it democratizing the industry, and I completely agree. I saw the business I brought in and the rates I charged, and I realized I could do it all myself and save clients money while simultaneously creating a nice life for myself. It was a no-brainer. You’re getting someone who worked behind MASSIVE retainers and hourly rates for a fair price point.
My unique career path has helped me become even more necessary as all of the experiences I’ve had leading up to building my own business have lent to my abilities and strengths. One of those strengths is my ability to predict what companies need to do next, especially in content strategy and thought leadership. Another strength is building long-lasting and genuine bonds with everyone I interact with. It brings me immense joy to see a client happy.
Since then, I’ve had seven phenomenal interns, achieved wide-ranging clients, been interviewed, continuously learned new skills and lessons daily, traveled for work, and am now a LinkedIn Top Thought Leadership Voice. Oh! And I moved into my dream apartment with a home office 😊.
My point is that you can certainly change your life in a year or even less. All it takes is grit, resilience, consistency, and an unwavering faith in your beliefs. Anything is possible for those who dare to dream bigger! It doesn’t mean it doesn’t come without sacrifice, but it makes the reward much sweeter.
